Oster Cube 6640 10-Speed Blender ... You Can't Go Wrong
Pros:easy to use, effective
Cons:no cons
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is a blender from Oster is a smart purchase.
My husband agreed overall and it was probably easier to just buy me one. Plus I tried to bribe him with the idea of making mixed drinks with ice in the house once the kids went to bed ...
We looked at a variety of blenders and knew that we didn't want to pay a lot for an appliance we weren't going to use often. We went with Oster because it was a company we were very familiar with and trusted. We felt the 10 speed had a wide variety of options.
The whole thing is pretty sturdy without being fancy or overdone. The appliance is pretty basic overall and is not an appliance purchased for any decorative reason or function. It is a very functional piece though not one we'd leave on the counter.
The jar fits securely on the base, though I seem to have a more difficult time placing it on correctly than my husband. I think it's because I am less familiar with cooking and using a blender overall. Once he sets it securely on the base however I can use this blender well. Also, the lid is a tight fit, though it does feel secure once fit together with the jar. The lid has never really loosened up any - which can be a good thing since it always leaves a tight seal, but a little bit of a hassle trying to press it down into fit the jar. The center of the lid also has a small circular area to remove it and pour things in, though I have yet to use that feature.
This blender is called a 10-speed blender because it has 10 speed choice. The choices are listed on each button, with each of the 5 buttons contained "two" speeds - one listed on the top and the other on the bottom. The Lows are: Stir, Puree, Chop, Whip and Mix. The Highs are: Grate, Blend, Grind, Liquefy, and Ice Crush.
This appliance is easy to use and press - other than my personal issues with securing it firmly on the base. The features work well and our blender has performed perfect every time. We haven't found a speed that this blender struggles with - it really does have every basic blending need in mind!
Overall durability is excellent as well. We've owned this for at least a few years and it's never given us a problem. It is fairly easy to clean so long as you are careful around the blades, and everything comes apart and hand washes (well except the base of course). The jar of the blender is easy to clean and the blades are overall easy to clean as well. The blades are very sharp though that is true of most blenders I have used. We do not have a dishwasher and so hand wash the pieces every time we have used the blender. The base of the blender can be wiped clean with a rag or a damp sponge. We have been extremely satisfied with this Oster blender and feel it was a very smart purchas
